The exhibit "Permítanme Hablar" showcases the vibrant semi-representational abstract works of AnaYelsi Velasco Sanchez. The pieces in this exhibit depict stories of justice and liberation., inviting the viewer to connect with the emotions and experiences conveyed in each piece. The title "Permítanme hablar" translates to "allow me to speak," and is inspired by mujerista theology, which emphasizes the voices and lived experiences of Latinas. This title is particularly empowering for the artist, as she works to reclaim her first language, lost through forced assimilation. Each piece in the exhibit tells a story of struggle and triumph, pain and healing. Take a journey with AnaYelsi Velasco Sanchez and discover the emotional depth of Permítanme Hablar.
